8/16/2017 Kenbrell Thompkins, NYJ, WR
The receiver-needy Jets have signed Thompkins.

Analysis: Thompkins returns to the Jets after playing seven games with them during the 2015 season. He was waived/injured by New York last September after a groin injury. With 70 career catches in stops with New England, Oakland and New York, Thompkins steps in as the Jets' most experienced wide receiver. The team lost projected No. 1 receiver Quincy Enunwa to a neck injury on Aug. 5.
8/16/2017 Tramaine Brock, Sea, CB
The Seahawks have signed Brock.

Analysis: Brock started 31 of 32 games over the past two seasons for the 49ers, but was released during the offseason after he was arrested and accused of hitting a woman he was dating. Brock was charged with felony domestic violence in June, but those charges were dismissed last week by the Santa Clara County district attorney's office after the office said there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case because the accuser declined to cooperate.
8/16/2017 Ezekiel Elliott, Dal, RB
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell appointed Harold Henderson to hear Elliott's appeal, and the hearing is scheduled to take place on Aug. 29, according to NFL Network.

Analysis: The NFLPA on Tuesday officially appealed the six-game ban handed to Elliott, who was suspended for violating the league's personal conduct policy after multiple domestic violence incidents. Henderson was the arbiter for the appeal hearings of Greg Hardy and Adrian Peterson. Henderson reduced Hardy's suspension for alleged domestic violence from 10 games to four in 2015 and upheld Peterson's indefinite suspension for child abuse in 2014.
8/15/2017 Laquon Treadwell, Min, WR
Treadwell returned to practice Tuesday after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Analysis: The second-year receiver told reporters he hopes to play in the Vikings' second exhibition game at Seattle on Friday. Either way, Treadwell's availability for the regular season isn't in jeopardy unless he incurs a setback.
8/15/2017 Thomas Davis, Car, LB
The Carolina Panthers signed veteran linebacker Thomas Davis to a one-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

Analysis: The deal for Davis, a first-round draft pick of the Panthers in 2006, runs through the 2018 season. The Charlotte Observer, citing a source, said the one-year is worth $6.75 million, with $3 million of it guaranteed over the next two seasons. Davis, 34, registered a team-high 132 tackles in 2016 and became the franchise's all-time leader in that category with 1,086 tackles while earning his second straight Pro Bowl appearance.
8/15/2017 Mike James, Det, RB
James has been placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a concussion.

Analysis: Already being listed as out for the year with a concussion is certainly alarming, so it seems James' playing days could be over.
8/15/2017 Ryan Mathews, Phi, RB
Mathews was given a clean bill of health and medically cleared by the Eagles, coach Doug Pederson said on Tuesday.

Analysis: Mathews has missed the entire offseason while recovering from neck surgery. He sustained a herniated disk in his neck during a 24-19 win over the Giants on Dec. 22. However, it's possible the Eagles won't keep him because would be owed $4 million if he stayed on the team this season. He rushed 155 times for 661 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games in 2016 for the Eagles, who signed LeGarrette Blount in the offseason.
8/15/2017 Tony Lippett, Mia, CB
Lippett tore his Achilles and will have season-ending surgery, coach Adam Gase said on Tuesday.

Analysis: Lippett, who sustained the injury during Monday's practice, made 13 starts last season and collected 67 tackles and a team-high four interceptions. The 25-year-old played in 75 percent of Miami's defensive snaps in 2016 and was expected to be a backup this season behind starters Byron Maxwell and Xavien Howard.
8/14/2017 Jay Cutler, Mia, QB
The Dolphins may be ready to play Cutler in their next preseason game Thursday against Baltimore. "I'm trending in the area of yes, but we'll see what happens the next few days," coach Adam Gase said Monday when asked if the recently unretired Cutler would be set to play Thursday.

Analysis: Signed to a reported one-year, $10 million contract plus incentives, the 34-year-old Cutler was talked out of retirement by Gase shortly after Ryan Tannehill sustained a left knee injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season. Gase served as Cutler's offensive coordinator with the Chicago Bears in 2015. Cutler had 21 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a career-best 92.3 passer rating in his only season under his now head coach.
8/14/2017 Blake Bortles, Jax, QB
Jaguars coach Doug Marrone says quarterback Blake Bortles is getting reduced repetitions because of a tired arm.

Analysis: Marrone initially said Bortles was on a "pitch count," but he backtracked Monday in an effort to better explain why the team's starter seemingly got benched after throwing two interceptions in practice Sunday. Once a promising prospect, Bortles is probably not worth selecting on draft day at this point.
8/14/2017 Kerry Hyder, Det, DE
Hyder will miss the entire 2017 season after sustaining an Achilles injury during Sunday's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Analysis: Lions head coach Jim Caldwell labeled the injury as "significant" following Sunday's game, and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport confirmed its severity the following day. An undrafted free agent, Hyder collected 36 tackles, a team-best eight sacks and a pass breakup in 16 games during his rookie season.
8/14/2017 Denzel Perryman, LAC, LB
Perryman is expected to miss at least a month due to an ankle injury suffered in the team's preseason opener.

Analysis: Perryman was hurt in Sunday's 48-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and will be sidelined four to six weeks. The 24-year-old Perryman was carted to the locker room after he was injured in the first quarter against Seattle. He returned to the sideline on crutches and wearing a walking boot on his left foot. Perryman started 11 of 12 games for the Chargers last season, registering 72 tackles with a pair of sacks and an interception.
8/14/2017 Jared Crick, Den, DE
Crick is the latest victim of the Denver Broncos' injury outbreak. He was carted off the practice field Monday with apparent back spasms. Crick is the 10th Denver defender - and the sixth member of the D-line - to get hurt this offseason.

Analysis: Crick, who played more snaps than any defensive lineman on the team last year, appeared to be favoring his right leg after getting hurt during run drills. Coach Vance Joseph said he didn't know the exact nature of Crick's injury.
8/14/2017 Devonta Freeman, Atl, RB
Freeman has concussion symptoms and has been ruled out for this week's preseason game at Pittsburgh.

Analysis: Freeman left Sunday's practice with heat-related issues. Coach Dan Quinn said Monday that Freeman reported the concussion symptoms after leaving the field and has been placed in the concussion protocol.
8/14/2017 Scott Tolzien, Ind, QB
Tolzien got the start at quarterback in Sunday's preseason game against the Lions with Andrew Luck still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. He struggled, completing just two of five passes for 24 yards.

Analysis: Tolzien was in the game for the first three Colts' offensive possessions of the game. He doesn't appear to be a good fantasy option if he's forced to play in the regular season.
8/14/2017 Kenny Golladay, Det, WR
Golladay came into Sunday's preseason game against the Colts as a backup to starter Golden Tate, but finished with three catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns in his first debut.

Analysis: Golladay has done nothing but impress in camp so far and could be worth a late-round flyer if his play continues to flourish.
8/14/2017 Kasen Williams, Sea, WR
Williams had four catches for 119 yards in the Seahawks' preseason win over the Chargers on Sunday.

Analysis: Williams - whose NFL regular-season resume consists of one carry and one reception in 2015 - may be a long shot at making the roster, but with more efforts like this, he'll certainly make Pete Carroll think about it.
8/14/2017 Jordan Matthews, Buf, WR
Matthews has a chip fracture in his sternum and is listed as week to week.

Analysis: Matthews hurt his upper chest Sunday in his first practice since joining the team in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. Matthews finished practice before being escorted off the field to be evaluated. The Bills were looking for Mathews to play alongside Anquan Boldin, who was signed last week, and rookie second-round draft pick Zay Jones.
8/13/2017 Christian Hackenberg, NYJ, QB
Hackenberg, a second-round pick in 2016, took over for Josh McCown early in the Jets' Saturday preseason opener against the Titans and played until late in the third quarter, going 18 of 25 for 127 yards.

Analysis: Hackenberg has looked lost in training camp at times but this was a positive step. "He has some things to build off," Jets coach Todd Bowles said of Hackenberg. "He has some positives that we can look at and he can build from. He's got some negatives that we've got to correct. That's to be expected in the first game."
8/13/2017 Connor Hamlett, Dal, TE
Hamlett was taken off the field on a cart Saturday, and he left the locker room on crutches with his right foot in a walking boot.

Analysis: He doesn't have fantasy value.
